| CVSManager comes with a tool for creating branches in your repository.

Creating a new branch |

- Click the Tools link in the Web Client. You will see the Branch Creation tab open.
- Click Create a New Branch link on the left.
- Configure the Branch Name and the correct Hierarchy.
- This will insert new branch information in the database and will not create any physical branch in the repository. In order to create a branch for the files in the repository, use Request Files in Branch form and process the request using Process Requested Files form.
A new branch with the configured name is created in the specified hierarchy. |
Request files in a branch |

You can request files for the branch.
- Click Request Files in Branch link on the left.
- Select the Branch Name from the appropriate combo-box.
- Specify the path along with the filename to request files already available. You can also click the File List link to browse and select the files to be requested to the new branch. [OR] Specify the file name along with the path in which it should be placed for requesting new files into the branch.
- Select the name of the requester.

Process Requested Files |

To process the files requested in branch,
- Click the Process Requested Files link on the left. The branches are listed.
- Click the delete icon against the branch name to reject a file request.
- Click the branch name to show the list of files requested for that branch.
- Select the files that can be moved to the branch and click Submit.

Editing a branch information |

- Click the Edit Branch Details link on the left. It lists all the branches created from the tool.
- By selecting the branch name, you can edit the branch name, hierarchy, and also activate/deactivate the branch based on the previous status.

Query a Branch |

You can query a branch for information based on anyone or all of the criteria listed below:
-
Project Name
- Branch Name
- Requester
- Requested date range (between 2 days)
- Processed date range (between 2 days)
- Branch Status
- File Type (old or new file)
